Friends of Luxulyan Valley

The newly-restored Carmears Tramway in the Luxulyan Valley has been officially opened.
Local volunteers, organisations involved in the restoration and around 60 children from Luxulyan School gathered at the World Heritage Site to mark the completion of the £30,000 project which has refurbished around a kilometre of the tramway.
Visitors will now be able to see the granite setts, chairs and two lengths of rail from the original tramway which has been uncovered as a result of the work between Treffry Viaduct and the Wheelpit.

A gourmet 100 per cent Cornish beef burger created by St Austell Brewery is in the running to be crowned the best burger in the country after reaching the finals of The Slider Decider competition in London.
St Austell Brewery’s catering development manager Nick Hemming has teamed up with Mark Holmes, head chef at the Shipwrights Inn in Padstow to create the eight-ounce prime Cornish beef burger which will be going up against creations from some of the country’s top chefs in the national competition.

Entry is FREE to the Looe Festival of Food and Drink which will be held at The Millpool, West Looe on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2013 from 10am to 6pm.
Following the success of year one, the second annual Looe Food and Drink Festival takes place in a purpose built pavillion that sits overlooking the East and West Looe River. Packed to the rafters with producers and growers from the south west, local produce from chutneys to cheese, speciality beers to seasonal meats, wet fish to speciality breads... it’s all here. Chef demonstrations from local restaurants, including new-to-Looe, Nathan Outlaw, take place over the two days.
