Cornish Festival Secures Major Backing - 07/01/2013
The 2013 St Ives September Festival will see major backing from luxury holiday specialists – Cornish Gems, which will mark the beginning of a long-standing, five year relationship.

With Show Of Hands’ Steve Knightley and Phil Beer as Patrons, the St Ives September Festival will take place from Saturday September 14 – Saturday September 28 2013, with tickets on sale in the spring.

Cornish Gems’ support comes at a crucial time when the Festival’s website needs to be rebuilt, branding evolved and materials such as banners and flags reproduced. St Ives September Festival’s Chairman, Dave Brotherton, is delighted that Cornish Gems’ support will enable this: “We are extremely grateful to Cornish Gems for coming on board as our headline sponsor for 2013 onwards. Over the years, the committee of volunteers have worked tirelessly to build the St Ives September Festival into a celebration of music, arts and literature. Cornish Gems’ financial support over the forthcoming five years will help cement the future growth and success of the festival. There are many facets that we wish to develop, starting with a new website and we are looking forward to working with such a well-respected Cornish company.”

The festival has grown and evolved since its origins in 1978. It now boasts ticket sales in the region of 9500, with visitors from around the UK and overseas attending the eclectic mix of events that take place over two weeks, seeing headline acts in 2012 such as Kate Rusby and Billy Bragg.

This popular arts festival takes place this year from 10th to 24th September and will feature art, music, drama, literature, comedy, demonstrations, exhibitions and dance events running throughout the fortnight.

For the first time the Festival will host BBC Radio 4's popular 'Any Questions' programme on Friday 9th September at the Guildhall.

Headline acts include Seth Lakeman, Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds and Barbara Dickson with support from Sean Taylor. Unfortunately, Seth Lakeman is already sold out and there are only a few tickets left at Lanhams St Ives for Adrian Edmondson.

There will dancers, musicians, shanty singers and entertainers performing throughout the town in the pubs and streets on the opening day, Saturday 10th September. There will also be an attempt to break the record for the largest collection of luggers since the First World War.
